Lightwell

A friends's father approached me in order to paint the lightwell of his house. Since I was free to do whatever I wanted, I decided to accept the job.

The lightwell as a place between "in" and "out", and the purpose of the room as a guest's room were the two aspects, that influenced me on a conceptional level. Two of the families' children study abroad and stay in the room when visiting their family. That's why I decided to turn it into a room of "arriving" and "feeling at home".

With that in mind, I designed a shelve system carrying objects, that resemble the families' connotations with the term "home" between the states of indoor and outdoor.
